Professional Statement
As a lifelong learner, I recognize the importance of professional development in shaping my growth as an educator. Through workshops and seminars, I have deepened my understanding of Indigenous knowledge, literacy development, and inclusive teaching practices. Moving forward, I aim to build on this foundation by engaging in further learning opportunities that enhance my ability to support diverse learners, foster critical thinking, and create engaging, reflective classrooms. My goal is to continuously evolve as an educator, ensuring that I provide meaningful and effective learning experiences for all students.

Professional Semester One
During my first professional semester, I engaged in a variety of professional development workshops that deepened my understanding of inclusive education and Indigenous perspectives. These sessions provided valuable tools for integrating FNMI knowledge into the classroom, using literature to foster empathy, and critically evaluating Indigenous education resources. Additionally, I explored strategies for creating gender-inclusive learning environments and gained insight into the interview and hiring process through discussions with school administrators. These experiences have strengthened my ability to create a diverse, reflective, and engaging classroom, and I look forward to continuing my professional growth.

Professional Semester Two
During my second professional semester, I participated in a variety of developmental workshops and the SWATCA conference. These tools provided me with the foundations for teacher high school ELA by reflecting building strong relationships, integrating pop culture into ELA, and how to engage young writers.
